"916" Fermentation and Bottling

Continued from Part 2
Alcohol: Origins
It took no time at all for '916' to start fermenting. At first I thought since this was a lighter colored beer, and my ABV was low I would have no danger of blow off. Burton Ale yeast proved me wrong once again. I had to install blowoff tubes on all 4 of my vessels within the first two days of fermentation.

Return of the Grapefruit

el regresso de la toronja los super reyes
you were probably expecting a Star Wars reference here instead
For those unaware of the climate in southern California, we basically have two seasons: Grapefruit Season, and Persimmon Season (if you ask anybody else, they won't know what you're talking about). What happens is, Earth's magnetic field tells all the grapefruit trees we need fruit by February, and tells all the persimmon trees we need fruit by November. This way we always have something to look forward to! (and oranges are available all year for some reason).  Now of course, persimmons aren't the only thing available in the fall, there's also pineapple guavas and stuff I mentioned in autumn harvest

Vineyard Expansion & Maintenance 2016 | Year 2

Let's get these babies home!
Continuing the (now) annual tradition, I have acquired 4 new grapevines from Picnic Day. This year I managed to snag a white variety to balance out the large number of red grape varieties I acquired previously.

Cutting Board Vegan Upgrade

I found this cutting board for free and was like, "what's the spikes and the drainage gullets for? Get that out of here I'm trying to cut an onion". So obviously, this was designed for butchering animal parts, the spikes to anchor them so they don't slide around, and the gullets for not getting blood on your counter top. I figured I'm not really into animal sacrifices these days, so I decided to bring it into the 21st century with a vegan upgrade.

Aku Aku Bicycle Hood Ornament

Where we last left off, I had just cast the stuff.
raw aku aku castings
First order of business is to cut the runners and file off all the extra metal, and brush Aku Aku's teeth to get the sand off.
