Deep Water Culture system (DWC) Growth Updates 2014

As it is a new year, a new post will be created for growth updates in the DWC system at home. The system will be growing broccoli, cabbage, and spinach primarily. Recently, the air pump was upgraded from the original 5 gallon model to a 60 gallon model. Recent images will be posted toward the top.

System growth from 2013

Looks like the heat wave has finished off the broccoli and cabbages. Most of the broccoli has been harvested around (I've been told it was tasty). A new season is beginning, starting with a crop hydroponically grown bush beans.

Crowns are much larger (and more easily seen) this week compared to the week before.

The photo I was sent was too bright, so I darkened it a little bit. The broccoli is forming crowns now.

I am not sure why everything is very yellow. I think the sun is just causing the leaves to look brighter than the prior weeks.

Everything is getting larger, especially the broccoli. More nutrients were added to the bins so the yellowing should decrease soon.

Cabbage is looking much nicer and starting to head-up. The broccoli is significantly larger too, but it looks like they could use some more nutrients.

It is windy today, but the garden is holding up. Two weeks time made a big difference in growth for both the broccoli and the cabbages.

First image is from the last day of 2013, so I'm sorry if you'll hate on me for cheating like that. Cabbage has been planted in the left bin and broccoli in the right bin.
